WHAT DOES MAKE A HOUSE A HOME?    IS IT THE STRUCTURE?  IS IT THE ROOMS?  OR IS IT SOMETHING MORE?

What Makes a House a Home
ISN'T A HOME SOMETHING MUCH MORE than structure, rooms. . . .

What is a home?  Is a home a structure with rooms, windows, grounds, plumbing, electricity and appliances?

Is a home that building on the corner lot that is walking distance to the park, a 10 minute drive to the super market?

Is a home that property that secures the deed of trust that guarantees payment to a mortgage company, or the lease that gives the right to use?

Is a home that piece of paper that describes the legal description of a piece of real property on which someone has constructed a house with walls and windows?

A HOME IS A LOT MORE THAN A ROOF, WALLS AND WINDOWS ON A PIECE OF LAND.

A home is someone in the kitchen lovingly preparing dinner for family or friends with the good dinner ware and our cloth napkins on the table.

What Makes a House a HomeA home is the Mums planted last November now peeking our of the ground giving promise of spectacular golden blossoms in the fall.

A home is the inspiration for the hard work to provide the place for the folks who live here and visit to eat, sleep, work, play, rock the grand baby to sleep.

Lenn - you are SO right - home is where the hearts are.  Whether it's a house, a condo, an apartment, it matters not - as long as hearts are there, it will always be a home.

You are so right. We think of a home as the structure but IT REALLY IS THE HEARTS!

Very appropriate subject, now that a home is NOT the financial windfall that everyone has been counting on for about for the past 5 years!

A home is a lot more than that, and this is where we need to focus our marketing for the foreseeable future.  I'm going to write my own blog about all the non-financial reasons that a house is good!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Gary Waters - Of course Gary.  We see that so often when helping a family, even a family of one, find that special place they will call home.

Vicki Lloyd ~ THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT VICKI.  Write it.

A "home" is when you walk into the front door, and know, then and there, that it's YOURS.  No common sense involved, no worries about "what if" (the oil tank leaks, the roof should be replaced)- all of that can be corrected.  It's just, from the moment you see it...YOURS.  Thanks for a great post, and reminder that this business is about emotion over all else...

Home is family, and comfort, and just being yourself. Was it Frost that once said, Home is Where when you have to go there, they have to take you in?

Lenn....  as so many have said, nice job.  I agree.... the home is basically a place other than just rooms, but what you do with them. What you do in your yard and a place where you can relax.
