I tickled the ivories at an open house...what a response...

With the permission of my seller's I had a great open house yesterday.  I'm an accomplished pianist and they had a baby grand.  While I was waiting for customer's to show up at the open house, I had the windows and door's open as it was a wonderful day in Florida.

What a better way to draw people into a home than to hear piano music outside... I lured them in.

While I wanted to stop tickling the ivories when customer's came in - instead, they stood around the piano and enjoyed the music...it took a lot, however with 12 potential customer's in toe...I convinced them that the home I was having the open house for was far better than my piano skills.

That being said, while some people come just for the food and the festivities of the day...I made this different.

As we all know, we all don't play the piano and there is not always a piano to play...not everyone plays the piano either...however, this was such a unique experience to be had...I enjoyed it as did my potential customers.

Would you have done the same?

Karen,

That is great that you were able to do this, and bravo on the response from the people who stopped by. :)

How cool is that you multi-talented lady!  If I was the public - walking in on a Realtor playing the Baby grand I'd be impressed - PianoLady! :=)

Karen,  Congrats on a successful open house!  It's too bad we have to lure our agents out with gift cards & lunch to come look at the house.  One of our agents had one the other day that was a great turn out for our area, over 35 agents showed.

Karen~ Now that is classy!  What a great idea!  If I could play the piano, I would do the same thing!

C,

It was great fun...amazing the response...let the windows and door's open and draw in the crowd..now if the would have let me stop....I did eventually...and I did get some good leads.

Fantastic! My mother often played - it does set the mood for a home!  Congrats on your creativity!

June,

I love when agents show up, but when potential customer's show up due to the music...that is just a gift!  Thank you for your comments.

Hi Karen. I always say that decisions about buying a home are made with both the mind and the heart. I 'm sure your playing tuned into the heart.

Dorothea,

I didn't plan it...it just happened...I played for the choir from 8-12th grade in high school, played the organ from 10-12th and played for my church as the assistant organist in 11-12th grade...that was a long time ago.  I gave my organ to the high school when I moved to Florida, however, I still have my piano...

I wanted to be a concert pianist...I ended up in Nuclear Medicine for most of my life until I was able to do my passion, which is real estate.

I still love my music.

Thank you for your comments.

Bob,

While I did finally convince them that I was the real estate agent having the open house, I did meet some great new buyers.

Never thought it would turn out that way.

Karen - What a cool idea! I too am a musician but I don't think bringing my drums along would help in my open houses....lol

I do dabble at the keys as well though so maybe I'll give it a try at my next open house that has a piano in it. Cool!

Robert,

I was so in my element, and so into the music when customer's showed up...they were into it as well.

It was totally amazing.

Robert,

Are you related to the Rodgers and Hammerstein legends?  I see we're both CB agents.
