Witte Museum's exhibition "Genome:  The Secret of How Life Works."

Bet you didn't know that:

  • 90% of your DNA is the same as a mouse
  • 50% of your DNA is the same as a banana
  • 60% of your DNA is the same as a fruit fly (ewww)

Pretty amazing stuff.  Learn more facts and discover what make you you.  Our genes make us who we are and influence who we might become. Our individual genome "is like an enormous recipe book."

~See The Cookie Factory - A visual presentation of protein production that children and adults alike can understand, with DNA, genes and proteins as the ingredients and recipes for "making human beings."

~See The Cell Explorer - a large video screen that lets visitors navigate a map of a cell and discover how its' parts and processes work.

Now thru May 25. $3 surcharge for this exhibit. (Graphic courtesy of The Witte Museum.)

Shirley - Do I look like a walking banana? A fruit fly? A mouse? or Do I look like me?

All jokes aside, this should be a very interestin exhibit and educational. Hope our grandkids get to visit; I'll have to tell our daughter-in-law if they are not already going with the school on a field trip.
