So you've set up your Twitter account and started following people.  Now what?

What are you going to "Tweet" about?  Are you going to update the World about mundane goings on in your life?  Are you going to brag about your listings?

You only get 140 characters to make your point.   Just how do you engage your reader and harness a good following within the context of 140 characters?

One very easy way to do it is by re-blogging other members' entries.  You simply copy and paste another member's entry, and place that member's Twitter name along with the words RT and "@" right in front of it.  For example, Christy Gordon re-tweeted my entry; the proper protocol was followed:  "RT @MirelaMonte" and then my original entry:

christy_gordonRT @MirelaMonte: Q. What's the definition of mixed emotions? A. When you see your mother-in-law backing off a cliff in your new car.

Here I re-tweeted mashable's entry:

RT @mashable: "First 100 Days of Obama's Facebook News Feed" - http://bit.ly/WP5NP. This is Hilarious!!

You can even re-tweet a re-tweet:

StopChronicPainRT @MirelaMonte: RT @myccconcio:Environment, is a mirror of our attitudes and expectations. http://powerprinciples.blog... "Uh Hu"

Re-tweeting is also great for forging friendships.  I have received many thanks for re-tweeting:

hoosta_knows@MirelaMonte Thanks for the RT!! Really appreciate that!

I guess, this little tutorial also showed you that "@" placed in front of the person's name is proper protocol when addressing or referring to another Twitterer.

Don't forget to click on the links!  Anything in red, blue or another color is a link.  Click on it and see!  Many of the links are quite valuable, although some just lead to self serving sites.  I usually un-follow those members (spammers), unless they also provide me with interesting information along with the spam.

Re-tweet, follow the links, peruse the material provided.  Twitter is a haven for interesting information.

Tweet you at the Top!

I did not realize you were limited to 140 characters.  Not much to say with that?
