Hi Ann, Very pretty photo. I think that is a thistle, isn't it? Just don't touch it. Ouch!

How beautiful! My first thought was it looks like a pink sponge ball with needles. :-) What kind of flower is that? I've never seen one of those anywhere.

Shirley: Yes, I have always called that thistle.

Donna: It's a weed! It grows and spreads really fast.

I planted some of these fuzzy balls one time..and they didn't come out this good, they got top heavy and bent over.. :)

Ann, It is a very pretty weed. So is it the type that you can blow on it and it scatters to the wind? I'm not familiar with a thistle.

Ann do you grow these in Alabama? I would have guessed these grew out west.

Those beautiful thistles are Harsh! and they do hurt and really spread.

Hmmm, not only don't we have those in Hawaii but we didn't in Maryland either. I love the purple, especially since it's one of the colors that is very vivid to me. I don't see colors the way most do.

I think that's one of the globe thistles, but I can't tell for sure without some leaves.

Did you know that artichoke is a thistle? Let it bloom and you'll see one of the most beautiful thistles you've ever seen in your life.
