Many areas of the country is still seeing a large number of vacant homes and deserted subdivision.  Here in Missouri, Springfield Mo Real Estate has reduced home prices too.  The drop is partly due to the number of foreclosures and short sales.

I am currently taking another class on "short sales".  Some of the information being released is really depressing.  So many Springfield homeowners are currently behind in their mortgage payments and have not placed their homes on the market......thinking they can not afford to pay the commission or know they are upside down on their balance.

Many of these homes can be saved from foreclosure.  Loan modifications are available, along with selling your home as a "short sale".  Read about Foreclosures and Short Sales.

The Springfield MLS does not give us the number of foreclosures and short sales that are currently on the market and selling.  But I can tell you the number of short sales I'm working have increased.

Here are the current statistics for March, 2009.
