What about Florida?? Housing Stimulus Tax Credit Available at Closing? Not yet...

Is Florida going to do something similar here in the next little while so that First-Time Home-Buying Floridians can also get access to the $8,000 Tax Credit as a means to pay for the down payment? I sure hope so.

There was an interesting article in Saturday's Seattle Times which talks about using the Stimulus money for closing costs and down payment assistance. It details which states are eligible, and outlines the process. Obviously, consult your CPA, but it appears that it is essentially a bridge loan till you get your 2009 tax year return. I agree with this as long as the bridge loan is interest free, or only incurs interest if you don't pay it back with your tax return money.

It sure would be nice to see it applied at closing. I've been advertising the $8000 credit on little yellow signs out in front of my listings.

Rob- Thanks for your comment. And, yes, it WOULD be nice if they'd allow a very short-term "loan" like that. :)
