Stupid paint jobs

I inspected a house today that was painted in patches all around the house. It looked as if they were trying to cover up, and this looked so obvious, that you felt they were hiding something when they painted.

It turned off the buyer so much! I couldn't believe how much it affected they way they viewed the house. If the seller had the place professionally painted, it would've impressed buyers, but they 'cheaped out', and it cost them. This was a foolish move.

Why don't these people invest in some real meat and potatoes - like paint the place properly, or remove the asbestos, or fix the pipe leaks, or put on a new roof. And they wonder why the house doesn't sell. - Ray

You know I think we all wonder things like that from time to time.

Hi Ray, I agree with you. Those paint patches stand out like a sore thumb.

I also wonder why sellers leave dirty dishes and clothes throughout the house when there's a showing or open house. I think some people just don't have common sense.

I won't even talk about how some of this stuff smells! Funny post! :)

Ray - Painting is easy. I have hired contractors who have agreed to paint a fnished project when it's obvious at the end that they were good at the task at hand minus the paint job and that they might have been a good carpemtner or remodeler but hate to paint (or maybe wnated to move on to another job). It only takes a little more time to paint the right way for a proffesional look. I see this all the time and the slapped on paint job is always so much more obvious.
