One of the most used features of my iPhone might well be the camera. While the experts will tell you the camera on the iPhone is lacking (and it is in some ways), it's far better than they'd have you believe.  In fact, I frequently get comments like 'Wow, you took that with your phone?'

Monkey in a tree! The convenience of always having my iPhone in my pocket has provided far more opportunity for capturing those unexpected moments with my wife & kids, in addition to taking listing pics on the fly and posting them for immediate marketing exposure, or capturing funny or interesting things I see when showing homes and sharing them with my followers and friends.

I recently stumbled across a pretty detailed write-up of tips for maximizing your iPhone camera's abilities. Using a little thought and experimenting with different techniques, you'll be surprised what you can do with that handy little camera phone.

One tip I'll add as well, which was shared with me by a good friend and fellow tech-junkie not too long ago is this; when you're taking a picture, put your finger or thumb on the shutter button and hold it there until you've steadied the camera and you're ready for the picture to be taken, then just release.  This helps you eliminate blurry pics by reducing the amount of movement when you're ready to snap your pic.

Happy shooting!!

UPDATE: Special thanks to my friend Douglas for sharing a link to some further proof of the abilities of an iPhone camera.

Ryan, thanks for that tip!  I love my little IPhone camera.  I use it for cute doggy tricks.

Hey Ryan, I agree with your tip. I have to "control" myself when taking any photos with any camera. Sometimes I want to be quick, and then...well, it shows. It's blury. But I'll check your other tips for Iphone now.

Ryan, thanks for the tips!  I practiced your last tip (holding shutter down until set) and it's very helpful...thanks!  I'll keep practicing...although my dog says "not again, Mom!"  Ha!

Hey there, thanks for the tips. I have just recently started practicing with the iphone camera and the first time around I took about 50 pics of which about half were way off. But it was a good way to learn. Still learning though. ~Rita

Ryan, you're definitely an iPhone junkie. I'd be interested in hearing what your views are on the new 3.0 software coming out soon. Aside from the obvious advantages for everyone, any distict advantages for real estate professionals?

Ryan,

I was one of those who wasn't enthralled with the picture taking capability of the iphone, but I'm getting over it after practicing a few times.

Hey Tim, I just saw your question.  I'm looking forward to 3.0 as I'm sure everyone else is, but I don't know that any of the new features will be anything special for Realtors specifically.  I've certainly missed MMS, copy & paste, forwarding, and email search features, all of which will help me be more efficient out in the field, but I know it's not just us Realtors who are feeling that.  It was my understanding 3.0 would be released today, but as of now, there's no upgrade available.  Wasn't this supposed to be Christmas morning?
