Join the National Association of Letter Carriers this Saturday, May 9, 2009, in the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive, the nation's largest single-day food drive. Last year, over 73 million pounds of food were donated to food banks.
13 million children are at risk! As Schools end for the summer, millions of children will not get the food support they usually receive through the National School Lunch Program. Please help the cause by leaving non-perishable food donations in a bag ( any type of bag is acceptable ) next to your mailbox for your letter carrier.
Here is all you need to do to help:
1. Place bag ( s ) of nonperishable food items next to your mailbox
2. Your letter carrier will pick up the food and deliver it to the local food bank
It's that simple.
Go through your cupboard or make a trip to your local store and help the cause if you can. Popular items include: canned meat and fish, canned soup, juice, cereal, and rice. Please make sure the donated item is not expired and do not donate anything in a glass container.
Here are some specific statistics here in Ohio:
Population 11,466,917
