Here's this weeks average mortgage interest rates based on a survey of large lenders:

Hawaii Mortgage Interest Rates:  (30 yr fixed) 6.42 percent, Average points: 0.26
Interest rates rose this week as investors sold bonds to buy stocks.  When investors sell a lot of bonds, bond prices go down, and bond yields go up... and mortgage rates follow suit.  The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 6.42 percent from 6.32 percent last week.  The average 15-year fixed rose to 6.15 percent.  The average jumbo 30-year fixed rose to 6.64 percent. Adjustable-rate mortgages:  5/1 ARM rose from last week to 6.32 percent, the one-year ARM still the same at 6.08 percent.  This is the highest rates have been since January!  Rate's can be lowered by paying additional points.

Home Equity Rates:  HELOC:  8.17 percent, Home Equity Loan:  7.94 percent
About the same as last week.
