The Village of New Preston is beautiful, a small section of Washington, Connecticut located moments from Lake Waramaug, the second largest natural lake which has been a popular vacation spot since the 1800's.  I will post pictures of Lake Waramaug separately.

Yesterday I went to New Preston to take a few pictures. These are just a few that I took of the Village and the Aspectuck River as it winds through the village. I also couldn't resist the photo of the New Preston Congregational Church steeple as it rises through the trees. What a view!

If you are visiting the area, be sure to stop in New Preston. A step back in time, with antique shops and a local deli, it is a wonderful place to bring your camera and take some of your own pictures! Follow the signs from Route 202  to Route 45, the village center is right there.

Hi Andrea, rural New England has such great natural scenery, especially when you include running water as part of the photos. I like all of these that you provided.

Andrea, Thank you for the trip back to New England! Connecticut is so charming. before moving here we lived in The lower  Hudson Valley & I grew up in Boston. I loved long drives through the New England & NY country back roads. You did a great job with the photos!

Caren, thank you so much! I just love driving through New Preston. Rumor has it that it was built for the people who worked for the "rich folk" in Washington proper. There are some very pricey homes in New Preston, over time it has become just as viable for the second home market as other parts. The lake front homes command prices in the millions. Happy mothers day to you too!

Craig, thank you! I am working on the lake photos. I want to get a bit more history to give people.

Diane, you are very welcome! I so enjoy taking pictures, I could lose myself driving around here and shooting. And thank you.

Liz, glad you enjoyed it. There are some great little shops there, and good food too. Thank you.

Gary, my life coach, I do love rural New England. The scenery is so rich. Thank you!

Hannah, every time I drive thru it I think it is right out of a book. Thank you!

Ginger, oh, the Hudson Valley is great, and, I was born in Cambridge and lived in Winchester in the beginning of my life! I love New England for sure.
