I was just cleaning up some of my "disk space" by deleting some emails in my various files.

When I sort to delete, I first go to "subject" in my Inbox, and delete emails to me from the various blog sites telling me someone made a comment.  Since I can see the comment on the site, I don't need to keep the email notifications.

Since my computer was complaining that it was on overload, I went to my sent file, which had 1,400 emails since I last cleaned it, which doesn't seem that long ago.  I decided to sort these by TO - who I sent them TO.  I decided I could delete the ones to Kevin, since most of those advises were incorporated into blog articles already.

I started deleting just the emails sent to Kevin, and counted 198 emails!!!  Considering we have had several phone conversations that last over an hour, a couple of them three hours, I was amazed at the volume of emails!

What the heck did we do before we had email?

It is amazing how quickly they add up - and how much space they take up

I struggle to keep my inbox below 1000 messages.

Probably should work on my filing a little.

I'm sure they are ALL valuable messages, and the world would stop to turn if I lost ONE of them...

Kevin you are SO lucky to have so much of Ardell's time, attention, knowledge and dedication.

I sure as heck hope you appreciate all of her guidance and wisdom. You are extremely fortunate.

Re email:  I use Gmail with "2,856 MB" of disk space.  Well, that disk space is precariously close to 75% full.  I haven't yet stumbled across info on what happens when you exceed Gmail's disk allotment.  Yeah, yeah, I know, I could delete -- but that takes time, and time is in short supply these days,

Ardell, you are so correct about what we did before email.  Just this afternoon, I text messaged a seller at work about an evening showing. I must admit, I found myself thinking, "what did I do before text messages?"  It's amazing how fast technology changes the way we do things.  Sherry

I use Outlook.  I remember the first time I deleted my sent file.  I felt like I committed a Mortal Sin.

I was talking to a client about the days when we had to pick up keys and hand deliver all offers.  I remember the day faxing it became legal.

Hi ARDELL,

198 Emails, huh?  Must have been a slow month... Seriously, I am glad to see that you and Kevin have such a great relationship and that Kevin was rewarded for all his hard work (and, by extension you for yours).

Drew and I have not been so prolific where emails are concerned.  However, I have no clue how many IM's we have exchanged.  Actually, for me, building the relationships that I have made since arriving here has been the very best part this entire experience.   It has also been the most valuable part.  Business is important, but it is the people that really matter.

Take care, help lots of people and have a wonderful day!

I don't use IM.  My clients that text me (which I get as an email) can rack up thousands of communications by the end of the transaction.  I type really, really fast.

I get so many spams that I am always worried I may accidentally zap a real message.

Hi Randy - I have two spam filters.  One in Outlook and another is McAfee.  Most junk goes there and I am able to quickly scan for real messages and delete the rest.  Sorry about hijacking this blog entry.  Good luck!  Sherry

FYI Ardell, you don't have to delete any files if you like - just create a new personal mail folder and move everything you want to keep to it.  It will even display on your Outlook screen in the left window so you don't lose access.  All you need is a big harddrive and those are REALLY cheap these days...I'm frustrated at how many emails I deleted before learning this...

Hi Sherry,

I don't know what "hijacking a blog entry means", but I'm quite sure you didn't :)  Let the conversation flow where it may.
