Vanity Plates - Help your business?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with RE/MAX Elite

Just a quick blog to ask if anyone has any luck promoting your business with a vanity plate. I recently picked up my brand new vanity plate for my truck and the responce has been great. I lucked out and was able to get RI Commercial Plate 'HOME' and it has already paid off. I recently met a buyer coming out of a CVS store and the vanity plate was the ice breaker. I am now sending that buyer property notifications and will hopefully start showing them properties. While this may have been a once in a career chance, I have to think that I wouldn't have met this person if my plate wasn't 'HOME".

Your thoughts and experiences would be great.

Manny

I've had  better luck with the car signs.  I have my name, cell #, & website.  I get lots of comments and meet lots of new people.

Manny,

I think it's a fun idea and definitely an ice breaker. I do not like my name plastered all over my car. Sometimes sellers will ask me if I have my name on my car to please remove it when I come to meet with them (they don't want the neighbors to know). I always say don't worry that's not how I advertise myself

We did this when I was at Re/Max and other than a few say "hey I see your with RE/Max" that was about it.

Hi Manny ~ What a score!  That is an excellent plate.  I am jealous.  I wouldn't put a sign on my car (I'd have to be a much more polite driver!) but I'd love that license plate.

I haver learned form past mistakes, and decied to forgo vanity plates for real estate.  For many it may identify you as a "Deep Pocket!"  Nuff said!

Manny,

I love the idea but afraid that with the way I drive that running people off the road (that are obviously in my way and driving too slow)...maybe not be such a good ice breaker for me.... HAHA

Glad it works for you!

Manny - I don't have license plates, but I do have wording on the back window of my Pathfinder that says " Buy or Sell Homes - www.emorydecaturhomes.com".  I live and sell real estate in Atlanta, but I have a summer home in Maine.  Last summer, as I was lining up at the town dump in Maine to unload my recycling, a woman frantically waved me down.  It turns out, she was born in Decatur, Ga. and once I introduced myself, she recalled that I had shown her property years ago.  It is, as Sheila pointed out, somewhat of a disadvantage if you cut someone off in traffic - you might get an ugly e-mail the next day.
