Terry Cutting - My beautiful, wild and crazy mom, back in her flight attendant days in the 60s.
Alright, I love my mom, she is my best friend and always supports me. And when I say “support” I mean, she will go to the ends of the earth for me and did this past year when I went through a very difficult time. She even went so far as to start stalking me on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook! But here are a few of the things I most appreciate about her:
1. Imparted me with the most amazing fashion sense. For those of you that know me or have ever seen my closet or shoe museum you know, I have expensive taste. Yeah, my mom, who has an entire wing of her basement, 2 walk in closets and 2 other closets in her house dedicated to clothing, accessories and shoes, who schooled me in the ways of fashion. Dont even get me started on her collection of makeup, facial/body creams, perfumes and other beauty products. In fact, at one time, she owned and operated a boutique cosmetic store in Andover just to keep her endless supply of beauty smack coming.
2. She sees dead people. OK, thats not true, but she is very spiritual and intuitive. Once found a feather in her house and did not put it in her cap and call it macaroni but rather declared it an angel feather that brings good luck to all! She also is deep into the art of Reiki and while I cannot sit still long enough for her to cure what ails me, she did once improve the performance of my hard drive by Reiki-ifying it! She also burns sage in my house. Not sure why since its supposed to clear evil spirits and I am still here. She also has incredibly accurate intuition which is annoying most of time because she is also wicked awesome at saying “I told you so.”
3. She yells at me. OK, that might sound bad, but few people have the balls to yell, reprimand, call me out. My mom does and she always makes me a better person because of it or at least tames my bad temporarily. And believe me, I need my bad tamed on a regular basis.
4. She has a magic power. My mom can organize things out of existence in my house. Seriously, the woman is OCD, anal with the organization so much so she can organize things into the black hole. Luckily, after about 2 hours of searching, I just call her and she knows exactly where whatever I am looking for is. FYI she can also throw 2 dollars in pennies into a toll without missing a single one. I consider this an almost savant-like talent!
5. She makes me laugh. Please, you guys didnt think I became this irreverent, wild, witty and down right bitchy without some hard-core training. My mom and I share more laughs than most mothers and daughters and can make almost any good situation funny and any bad situation hysterical! Any story that involves my Grampie or Nana will have us both rolling. And hell be damned if you piss both of us off at the same time we will maul you. Oh yeah, and speaking of wild… my mom was a flight attendant back in the 60s and let’s just say table dancing was a hobby so now you know where my wild side came from.
I love you, mom and happy Mothers Day.

Mary, I enjoyed reading about your mother. It sounds like you and she have an amazing relationship. Enjoy her and your time together. My mother died 27 years ago and I still miss her every day.
