Some Realtors are so slick…they’re downright slimy!

DO YOU KNOW ANY AGENTS LIKE THIS ONE?

It's amazing to me that the general public seems to have pegged all REALTORS in the category as this fellow.  Click on link below:

How can we get a campaign going that will finally eradicate the current opinion the public has with regards to REALTORS?

We've tried ethics rules...only some abide!

We've tired reporting violations...they pay the fines and settle back into their lackadaisical old ways.

What can we do...Seriously...anyone with good ideas?

Carol, OMGosh..I ask myself this on a daily basis....I often read non-realtor blog sites...and the public shoots us every time...I hear so many complaints about realtors and how no one should trust them....we have a shaky reputation...and I'm not sure what we do????  We must remain credible, and preserve our integrity!  Many thanks

Cute video. I've seen a few things that have raised eyebrows. Ethics is definitely an issue especially in these tough times!

Yes, being personally ethical is a key factor that WILL make a difference. I've spend a career's worth of time differentiating myself from the public's less than positive perception of "The typical Realtor."

I often hear clients who have been referred to me or those who I have not previously met or been in transactions with, that, "You aren't anything like what we expected!'  and "Why are you so nice?"  They seem truly surprised when they see me in action.

I'm someone who is totally out there in the public eye, and right up close and personal with a heck of a lot of other REALTORS, both local and across the nation.  It's been my personal experience that only a very few REALTORS behave in an inappropriate unethical manner...but you'd think that it was the majority of REALTORS by the way that the public ruminates over one bad apple.

There are bad apples in the world, THAT will always be a fact, interestingly, most of the bad apples of the world are NOT folks involved in the real estate industry.  Most of them are mixed and splashed about in every single profession known to humankind...from the very lowest of service positions...all the way through the ranks of Presidents of Countries!  It's a human nature thing, and NOT necessairly a real estate issue.

The only thing you can do is to stand up and be counted among the ethical, to show your clients and the general public that you are a hard working, constantly diligent professional at ALL times.  It's been my personal experience that folks will see you as the person that you are.and honestly, this is how it should be and a responsibility that each of us carry on our individual shoulders at all times.

On occasion, you may mistakenlybe judged by those who don't know you, based on what their preconceived notions are.  Still...and more importantly, you will rightfully and constantly be judged by the makeup of your own, genuine character, every day for the remainder of the days of your life.  AND THAT is the manner in which you can turn the public's opinion around...it is an opportunity to change the hearts and minds of those who feel that we are all "Typical Real Estate Agents!"  Typical as in their preconceived stereotypical, yet erroneous beliefs.

I would also urge you to read my post with regards to The Four Agreements, you can read that post AND listen to the chapters on books on tape free of charge at the link below:

http://activerain.com/blogsview/1060094/explanation-of-the-four-agreements

Listening to the various tracks will change the way you think about what others think about you, it will free you from your own mistaken self limitations and it will, when you infuse your real estate practice with The Four Agreements, entirelychange the way you do business and your ability to be the very best you can be.  It's probably the most beneficial little book that I have ever discovered to be implemented into the lives of young REALTORS...and anyone else who has ever read the book or listed to the CD's and begun to incorporated the clarity you have available at your fingertips.

If every single REALTOR lived thier lives with The Four Agreements as a foundation and moral compass for doing business...then nobody, not one single person on this planet could lay one derogatory comment at the feet of anyone who engages in the world of REALTOR-dom.

You can be the best...in fact...you have NO RIGHT to not be!

I think the problem is the few bad apples make such a ruckus that they drown out the good Realtors. We all need to do the best we can to eradicate this unflattering image of Realtors in general. I have had clients say the same thing "How can you be such a nice Realtor? I thought they were all so pushy  like used car salesmen?"

It probably doesn't help that I run my office out of the back room of Vinnie's Deals on Wheels...

We have an oil shortage in this country and we clearly need to take these slim balls and use the oil their hair seems to produce and refine it and send it to Detroit and help our economy.

That should help!
