business couple

We all have days when we're feeling down or discouraged. But successful people are the ones who don't stay in that frame of mind. It's self-defeating. I've discovered that successful people each have their own way of breaking those self-defeating thoughts and feelings. For me, I first have to identify the lie (that's what it is). And my solution is always scriptural.

Here are some of God's promises that encourage me and keep me on track.

  1. For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans for good and not evil. To give you hope and a future.
  2. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, cringing or fear), but He has given us a a spirit of power and of love and of a calm and well-balanced mind, discipline and self-control.
  3. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
  4. For the Lord has given us the ability to produce wealth.

Sorry I didn't take time to look up the actual passages, but if anyone is interested, there's a great online bible at www.biblegateway.com. You can choose your translation; search by topic; search by keyword, etc.

I'll probably elaborate on this more, in a future post. But I'm interested in how you keep yourself motivated. I used scriptures, but I'd like to hear all the different methods and inspirational quotes from each of you.  You can even post a comment, then your own blog with a link back to me if you want. (no pressure :P)

I like your translation.  It's perfect.

What do I do to keep myself motivated?  Let's see...

I read read read anything and everything that inspires me to look at the glass half full.  It's so easy to fall into negative feelings.  Without even trying, our emotions trigger the painful feelings like raw nerves.  It takes care and kindness to ourselves to nurture the good in us.  Does that make sense?

I guess that if we are easily irritated by others and find fault in others we surely don't go easier on ourselves, we are usually 10x worse on ourselves in finding fault so in learning to love ourselves and accept that we are not perfect but always learning from our errors, we can accept and love others.

I meditate, watch inspiring videos on YouTube and comment just like here.  I meet people who bring light into my life.  I try to be the kind of friend I would like to have.

Some people are radiators and some people are drains.  What would I rather be?  Someone who gives out warmth and attacts people or someone who sucks the energy right out of the room?

I keep myself reminded of this and think about what I want my "soul" radiance to be.

I definately would rather be a radiator.  =P  I like to surround myself with people who also radiate.

I took the day to help a seller, up and down the basement stairs, pure physical labor.  It was a real boost.  Gave my brain a rest.
