10 Things I Observed While Showing Houses This Weekend..

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Compass 0524642

1.  A loaded pistol & sawed off shot gun in a 450k home (gated community.) No Joke!

2.  2 bras hanging from masterbed room doorknob. (same fancy neighborhood)

00

3.  Upon entering a house with a confirmed showing I was charged by a large 80lb mixed breed dog. The dog growled lunged and came right at me. I slammed the door shut on my hand to avoid being jumped on.

4.  Water sprinklers on by front door. We were forced to get wet, tracking water and grass on carpet. (not automatic sprinklers either.) One of those you drag in to the yard.

5.  The seller sitting with his shirt off in driveway scratching his stomach and listening to a small radio & blocking the sidewalk.

6.  In one particular home the home owner was laying down in her bed (fully clothed) with the lights out. She was reading her Bible.

7.  Husband & Wife enjoying their backy yard hot-tub.

00

8.  An Open House being held by the homeowners.  This is really foolish, annoying and completely ridiculous.

9.  A teenage boy, his girlfriend and their friends playing pool upstairs using the word "dude" every 3 seconds.

10.  A husband sitting on the couch watching a soccer game with the volume on 50 million.

Every one of these showings were confirmed, most of which required a confirmed phone call to the seller. If you are putting your house on the market then heed the advice of your listing agent. Use common sense when people come to visit your house. Keep your clothes on, hide your bras and put your guns away!

Sounds like you had an amusing weekend.  For me, I think my best was the "dead" guy upstairs in the room hanging half off the bed.

Greg,

I don't know why you are getting upset.  I am sure that they meant Brain and just made a typo.

For me showing short sales is the worse. I made an appointment with the owner. I showed up and the front door was unlocked. I knocked on the front door and the owner said "come in". I walked in and showed my buyer the downstairs. We were ready to go upstairs so I called upstairs to the owner "come on up". When we went upstairs the homeowners were in bed with the children. Needless to say we did not stay and look around. What were they thinking????

Greg, That was really funny. Once I interrupted a teenager's pot party. Obviously a parent confirmed and the kid didn't know, but it was really funny.

Hi Greg...Sometimes buyers look at so many houses they forget which is which.  I bet these buyers didn't and if they did by any chance it would be very easy to remind them.
