Postage Increase May 11,2009 Have you heard that the cost to mail a First Class letter with the United States Postal Service has increaded today ?

Today you will need to pay additional postage in order to get that letter, post card or package to it's final destination. Yes... It is only 2 cents per letter. Did you add this increase into your budget ? The cost of a Mass Mail Out just went up $2.00 per 100 letters or $20 per 1,000 letters. If you are sending 1,000 per month for 12 months you just spent an additional $240 per year. Just think if we didn't have e-mail. How much more would you spend in a year ?

The funny thing is that even with the increase in postage, the postal service is still on the brink of going bankrupt...

One thing we can count on: postage will always increase at a rate faster than your ability to use the stamps you've purchased.

Thanks for the reminder. I almost forgot. It seems like it just went up. I can't imagine the postal service is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Liz: I spoke to a unidentified source today who works for the postal service and they are about to close 2 facilities here in Clarksville. Also as of next week.. All mail will be sorted in Nahsville. 5 Local postal workers will be out of work.

Roland Thanks, No I did not know, so it is good you posted this and also good I posted all my bills on Saturday. Now I have to figure out how to change my meter again...
