Home sellers often get offended at comments that are made regarding their home.  It's only natural.

You've worked hard to make this your home, you may love every inch of it from décor to wall color, why would anyone else think different?

No doubt about it, home selling is an emotional process for all parties involved.

Better check your feelings at the door...

How can you do that?

Love the photo, Karen!  I can just hear this woman expressing her disbelief to her friend that she can't believe the potential buyer didn't love her wallpaper.

It can be difficult to hear the feedback when selling a house.  Once a person truly makes the switch from home owner to home seller, they are better able to emotionally separate from the house.

Hi Mary, it can be difficult to hear and as home stagers we also need to be very sensitive to the seller as well when we consult with them.  Getting from, as you nicely put, home owner to home seller mode is important to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Karen,

Great blog.  With your permission, I would like to use this article for my upcoming design evening on the Sunshine Coast of BC.

I have put together an evening fundraiser and will be presenting to realtors, homeowners, interested parties on home staging & re-design, Feng Shui, Colours, Home Inspections, Home Photos, etc.  I want to have lots of handouts for everyone.

Thanks.
