Peter and Julie Cummings Library, Palm City Florida

The long awaited expansion and re-openning of the Peter & Julie Cummings Library is now a reality as the doors will open today Tuesday, May 12th at 10:00 AM.  Taking over a year to complete (because of some unexpected Sand Hill Cranes) at a cost of over 3.9 million dollars, this branch of the Martin County Library system will well serve the needs of Palm City's residents.  No local tax money was used for this project as funds came from local impact fees, a state grant and donations of over 1.4 million dollars.

The ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 11th, was well attended by local residents as they listened speeches by library and county officials.

Highlights of the Cummings library include an Internet cafe, a youth services wing, and a childrens activity center.

Hours of operation Tueday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, on Wednesday from Noon to 8:00 PM and the library is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Located at 2551 S.W. Matheson Ave in Palm City, and ready to enhance the learning and cultural education of Martin County residents and guests.

The Martin County Library System can be viewed on line here.

Gabe,

Looks like such a nice library!

I love all of the palm trees!

I'm sure the community is welcoming it with open arms!

Gabe, Libraries are such a refreshing addition to communities. When my daughters were in grade school, one near our home featured a fur-lined claw foot bathtub. All of the kids visiting at the library would line up for their turn to climb in and read a book. :) kate ford

Good morning Gabe -

Libraries are one of the few things from the past that still stand today.  Newspapers are going out of business etc. so I am happy to see that some things still hold true.  I sure hope the parents in the community take advantage of this resource with their kids!
