The long awaited expansion and re-openning of the Peter & Julie Cummings Library is now a reality as the doors will open today Tuesday, May 12th at 10:00 AM. Taking over a year to complete (because of some unexpected Sand Hill Cranes) at a cost of over 3.9 million dollars, this branch of the Martin County Library system will well serve the needs of Palm City's residents. No local tax money was used for this project as funds came from local impact fees, a state grant and donations of over 1.4 million dollars.
The ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 11th, was well attended by local residents as they listened speeches by library and county officials.
Highlights of the Cummings library include an Internet cafe, a youth services wing, and a childrens activity center.
Hours of operation Tueday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, on Wednesday from Noon to 8:00 PM and the library is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Located at 2551 S.W. Matheson Ave in Palm City, and ready to enhance the learning and cultural education of Martin County residents and guests.
The Martin County Library System can be viewed on line here.
