Staging on a Tiny Budget

You did great on a tight budget. Don't let agents or homeowners sell you short. They obviously couldn't stage it or they would have themselves. They brought in a "professional". Keep up the good work.

I oddly enough having a staging job on Tuesday, with a budget of $500

Any advice?

Well its my first stage on a tiny budget, I know it could seriously use some of my inventory, but I keep talking myself down saying "no no no, you cant do this for free" use what "little" she has. Which truly isnt much.

I hit a snag already, I asked her to "store" the big blue/purple/pink velvet sofa, (bring up the lovely moss green loveseat from the basement) to which she refused, saying she wont have enough sitting room.

Now, I have to try to incorporate this. Its stained from 3 children under 5. I am thinking buying a slip cover, hanging ONE piece of art work, and calling the living room done.

Or, just taking the accessories anyway, and trying to convice her how good it DOES look once I get my own way ;)

There is always that overhead behind the scenes that no one understands unless they are in the business. After storage, purchase cost, time, and travel, a big chunk of the profit is gone. Oh and did I mention typical business expenses like operating an office, marketing, etc.? Really the amount of profit when staging a home is not as much as the realtor believes. I know exactly how you feel.
