A good friend of mine has re-opened the infamous Ohio Club in historic downtown Hot Springs.  This turn of the century cigar store has had its share of visitors from many ages.  Al Capone, Mae West, Jesse and Frank James, Harry Truman, Babe Ruth (amongst countless other baseball players as Hot Springs was home to spring training camps for many teams in the 1930's), Herbert Hoover, and Jack Dempsey. just to name a few.

Many visited for the world renown baths and thermal springs, yet most came for the illegal gambling that perservered well into the late 1950's early 60's. Many reports state that Hot Springs was the largest illegal gambling site ever, and till the 1960's moved more money than Las Vegas.

Well after ups and downs, and several remodels that have turned up switchboards to secret escapes the Ohio Club is once again open as a lounge/bar.  The Italian Mahogany Bar is still in place, YOU'VE GOT TO SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT...THERE'S NO OTHER BAR LIKE IT...Cigars are still welcome, and sold on site, daily live music mostly of blues and jazz variety are sure to entertain.  Tony and Cassy, owners pride themselves on their fine selection of beer, wine, and liquors and promise the "best martini in town!"

Whether just needing to relax after a long hard day, or to meet clients in a casual, relaxed, friendly atmosphere you will find just what your looking for at the new Capone's Ohio Club located in beautiful downtown Hot Springs, 336 Central Ave., across from the Superior Bath House (the one closest to the Arlington Hotel).  I thouroughly enjoy my time there, and even sneak back behind the bar and absorb some of the great history the building has.  If you love old buildings with some character and history, there are a lot of them in Hot Springs, but the Ohio Club is one of the best!

Enjoy---tell em Drew sent ya !
