Whether you are selling your home, or improving it for your own enjoyment, Feng Shui can play an important role.
In Part 6 of our Feng Shui It! series, we will be looking at the Creativity & Children area of your home. If you are in need of some help in getting your creative juices flowing, then make sure that this area of your home is in order. Are you trying to conceive a child or already have children but want to improve your relationship with them? Then this is an area of your home that you'll want to pay particular attention to.
If you have read Parts 1-5 of this series, you should be able to locate the Creativity & Children area of your home by using your Bagua Map. If you haven't been following along, please refer back to Part 1 to learn how to use a Bagua Map and divide your floor plan into the 8 life areas addressed in this series.
As you can see from your Bagua Map, the Creativity & Children area is located in the middle row, far right. In our home, this area is located in my home office. It was totally unintentional that this room was selected to be used as my home office. In fact, at the time I selected this room, I hadn't even started my Feng Shui training, but I'm glad that my office is located in the Creativity area.
Here are a few tips for improving the Creativity & Children area of your home:
- Incorporate the colour white (yes, white is a colour) into this area of your home; whether it be paint colour or accessories. If you aren't keen on white walls, why not be daring and go with a very dark wall colour and add some white accents such as throw pillows. I'm seeing dark, gun-metal grey walls, black Barcelona chairs and a few white throw pillows. Nothing like a little drama!
- The element of metal is compatible with this area of your home. Incorporate some metal furniture, artwork or accessories into this space. Don't forget the use of decorative stones here as well - they fall under the element of metal. Not only will these items improve the Feng Shui of this area, they will add to the dramatic effect you have created by implementing bullet point #1 above.
- If your master bedroom happens to be in the Creativity & Children area, avoid having a king-sized bed - they are viewed as bad Feng Shui. They can weaken your relationship and create a lack of intimacy - not conducive if conception is what you are trying to achieve ;-).
- If you have children, include a photo of them in this area. Since earth is the supportive element to metal, place the photo in a frame made of an earth-like element such as clay.
- This is a great area of your home for a children's bedroom. If on your Bagua Map, the Creativity & Children area happens to fall over a bedroom, that's great news! If you don't have children yet but are trying, then put a few baby toys or baby clothes in this bedroom.
As in Parts 1-5 of this series, these are just a few tips to get you started in the right direction. ** Stay Tuned ** Part 7: How To Improve the Helpful People & Travel Area of Your Home.
