Could you be being pulled down?

There are many times that we could be pulled down by different things.  It could be from having a wrong focus.  Or it might come being too comfortable and just sitting in our rocking chair and creating a huge rut in the carpet or that beautiful hardwood floor.  Maybe we are tethered to something that keeps us from going to far from home.  You may not be able to see it and sometimes it has the moniker of "Ball & Chain."

When I read the story below I started to think about those things that could be holding me back from being more successful and how I could change some bad/unproductive habits that I have.  Now don't smirk, you have some too!

GoatTwo rednecks are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.
The first hunter says " Wow, that's some hole, I can't even see the bottom, I wonder how deep it is?"
The second hunter says" I don't know, let's throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom."
The first hunter says " There's this old transmission here, give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see".
So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a
rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole and with no hesitation, and jumped in head first.
While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up. "Say there", says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?"
The first hunter says " Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin' about a hunert miles an hour and
jumped headfirst into this hole here!"
And the old farmer said " Why that's impossible, I had him chained to a transmission! "

We have many opportunities everyday to either sit back and do nothing and stay in our rut or we could move our rocking chair just alittle bit to the left or to the right and make a big change in our lives.  The Tunnel Black Holechoice is ours.  So, do you have a transmission and chain holding you back?  Better yet, what are you going to do to get rid of your ball & chain and stay out of a huge black hole?

Lisa,

I would suggest staying away from very large holes especially if you are planning on keeping your goat...  ;-)

Morning Don...Jesse does have a point.   It is so easy to get into a rut and just expect things to happen.  We need to explore other avenues and broaden our horizons.

I think we all have things that hold us back. I constantly struggle with the non productive habits that pull me down. Sometimes I get the better of them and sometimes they get the better of me.

Clearly I need to keep my transmission running and going smoothly or I might be thrown down a hole.

That's too funny.

I got chained to a transmission with the first job I had where I actually had a boss. I let him control my life rather than me controlling my life. I only lasted there three months. Never again.

I've worked for other people here and there since then, but I never let them control me or my business. They hire me because I can provide them with what they want, but I manage their expectations and my business, not them.

Russel,

It sounds like you have a clearly defined set of goals and objectives.

I think a lot of agents are getting closer to that hole that they realize! So many people are tied to that transmission with only doing one type of niche and once that niche starts to fade it may be to late, the transmission maybe well on its way down the hole.

George,

I agree, we should have multiple streams of income to maintain a living in all markets.
