Not so Wordless Wednesday, Are you my Mother?

This picture was taken at the Mother's Day luncheon that I wrote about last week, a gift to us from Evelyn Stilwell. Pictured here, from the left is Connie, my girlfriend Joyce McQuaid's mom, me, my little Mommy and my best friend Leann. We always joke that Leann looks more like my mom than I do and when someone got a camera out the first thing I thought of was a post title!! Are you my mother? Leann and my mom look exactly like mom and daughter with their pretty blue eyes and fair skin. Connie and I look like two peas in a pod, while Connie's daughter Joyce has beautiful green eyes and brown hair! My mom always told me, while growing up, that she bought me from the gypsies because my dark hair and skin are so different than her family. But our hearts are the same. I am happy that while we look nothing alike, Betty Carlini is my mother!

Susie- Just so you know when looking at the photo I though, that isn't Susie's mom. I think you do look like YOUR mom after reading. Maybe not the hair color, but in the face.

Susan, you look very much like your Mother honey! Every time I see a photo of you, I am taken by how beautiful you are! Now I, on the other hand, don't look a thing like my Mom. Just my Dad. We both have spock ears - :)) I am the only brunette and the only one with dark eyes in my family. Funny how that works!

Switched at birth perhaps?

Jennifer, I am the only dark haired person in my family, at least on my mom's side. My dad's side is darker. I have to tell you stupid husband comment # 1 million and 7 regarding beauty when I see you. For now, I'll say thank you for the compliment. Look who is talking!

Robby, my mom swore that I wasn't her baby when they wheeled me in. Back then, the moms were put to sleep when delivering.... don't ask me.... and my sister was very fair at birth. And Tammy has been calling me Susie long before you started sweetie!

Fran, I'm a nut about sunscreen and I am always under an umbrella at the beach. But I tan anyway!

Hi Susan, I love all your friends/family posts and your Mom is a sweet darling. Wonderful gathering of you all on Mothers Day. I guess you got the darker skin from your father's side of the family. You also could have been found on the doorstep and they're waiting till you are a little older to tell you. ; ) They know you are so delicate...

I would have bet money your mom was the dark haired one. You would have fooled me for sure. That is funny how that works out. Do you look like your Dad?

My wife has a very good friend that looks a lot like her. However, Jamie's sister really doesn't look much like her at all.

Sharon, My dad had black hair and olive skin. He didn't go out in the sun much, so I an darker complected than he was.

JL, my sister and I do not look alike at all. But my friend Liz and I look like sisters!

Pam, Northern Italians can be very fair. My mom's heritage is not really northern Italian, but she and her brothers are all fair with blue eyes. Their dad was dark with brown eyes, their mom had blue.

This is funny Susan. I found someone here in the rain that looks like she could be my sister.

On the blond haired blue eyed Italian thing...Nicole was telling me the other day that someone at school mentioned the Armenian Genocide during class and one of the girls said "You know there is someone Armenian that goes to this school" Nicole said that Armenian would be me through my grandma. My blond haired blue eyed "mutt" (Armenian, Italian, Irish, Dutch, German and probubly a few others thrown in) of a daughter had done a report on the genocide last year and her teacher had mentioned it to her other classes. They said that she was the first blond Armenian they had ever seen, LOL.

Hi Paddy, my husband is Armenian, and I have met more than a few blue eyed Armenians, some as fair as my mom, at various Armenian functions. My college aged son did a paper on the Armenian genocide in college this year and also in high school.

Hi there Mangiggly....boy are you right about the resemblances, quite uncanny actually. You're so lucky to still have your MOM, and I know you feel that way too.

Very cute, Susan. That was Rhiannon's favorite book as a baby. As a child I looked just like my mother did, and Rhiannon looks just like I did! Three in a row. : ) Looks like you had a fun lunch.

Chris, I've never really looked like anyone in my family. Even my dad, who I look the most like, used to say it wasn't natural for a child to be darker than it's parents! He never went outside, so how could he judge how tanned he would become? lol!

Hi Al and Peggy! I have a lot of fun with it. I ask people to pick a woman out of the room who they think is my mom and it's never the right mom!! My mom, though, is the perfect mom for me!
