Visiting the colonial city of Puebla, Mexico on business, we went to a white tablecloth establishment with typical Mexican cuisine--gourmet style.
And . . . No joke . . . I actually ate worms at this restaurant just a few days ago. "Gusanos de Maguey" to be more specific. The maguey worm is one of the two varieties of edible caterpillars that apparently infest the agave and tequilana plants--you know, the kind of worm that's in the Tequila bottle. They are sauteed and considered to be a delicacy, served with tortillas and salsa.
I was starved and said 'si' to the dish before I actually knew what was coming my way. And, not wanting to be rude, I did eat two worm tacos. No taste, really. I guess I could be on the television program Survivor--if everything was sauteed and served in a tortilla with salsa.
What truly disappointed me was what I learned later--that a 100 gram serving has 650 calories! Wow! I could've eaten a burger or an ice cream sundae and I sacrificed those calories for some worms . . . what a waste!
Obviously proud of myself for being daring and brave and adapting to the cultural mores of my environment by trying a new food, I wonder how can I do the same thing in real estate
Should I try new prospecting techniques? Should I learn the social mores and culture of Twitter? I've already embraced the culture of the short sale . . . maybe there are some other things that I can do.
Anything I try should be easier (and less caloric) than stomaching the worms!
