Do you have a middle name? Is it on your government issued ID? If so, it must also be on your ticket. As of May 15, the TSA apparently has new identification rules. Your ticket and your government ID must have identical names on them. That is, if your ID has John Joseph Smith, your ticket must read John Joseph Smith, not John Smith or John J Smith.

Not only that, you cannot have suffixes like Jr. or III nor can you have Mr., Dr., Rev. etc. And, if you have a passport, that has to match your other ID as well as your tickets.

Airlines are aware of this, some are making the changes but others are waiting until the TSA notifies them. It is not yet posted on the TSA website. However, full details can be found here.  The first we heard about it was on the Atlanta evening news at 11 last night.

I have tickets booked a couple of weeks ago for travel at the end of June. Hoping that their is no issue with them since they don't either my wife's or my middle name.

Fly the friendly skies........
