Friday Morning Activities at French Real Estate (Ocean City, New Jersey)

If you read a series of my postings, you know I enjoy reading, writing, watching films, playing tennis, walking and biking throughout Ocean City, making wine, and selling and renting real estate to those who venture down to our barrier island.  You may also know that I was a high school principal for seventeen years and had a total of thirty-two years in public eduction in Pennsylvania with our administrative roles and teaching history, psychology and sociology.  I will start my 17th year in real estate sometime later in 2009.

Now I am a man of mixed styles ... I can be quite organized, making lists, checking twice, etc. ... but I'm also a real right-brain type who has a style that can certainly upset my wife, among others.  Back to Fridays ...

I never had a home delivery of a newspaper because I leave before it arrives ... and generally the evening papers are not quite as good (where I lived) to match the morning ones.  But I'm rethinking this with The Press of Atlantic City because I enjoy the paper, and it generally arrives in our neighborhood before 7AM.  However, Fridays are always my day to catch up on newspapers:  I buy "the Press, USA Today (the Friday-Sat-Sun big one), the Ocean City Sentinel (which actually comes out Thursdays), and The Wall Street Journal (the Friday edition ... but now they have a Saturday edition as well - which I buy).  I always joke that I buy this one for the excellent "wine column" which has provided me with great recommendations for over ten years.  But I really do read this paper to catch up on everything.

I also read all of the free papers that circulate around Ocean City, Atlantic City, and Cape May County.  For example, I love The Sandpaper which is a seasonal one during the warm weather months.  I also read the Atlantic City Weekly which highlights the events over there.

Another major Friday morning activity is the emailing of my weekly online newsletter, BEACH NOTES to a large number of Buyers, Sellers, and Owners who have requested to get on my "distribution list."  I do a similar monthly one for "Rental Tenants," and today I have a double because of that.  I generally write the newsletter on Wednesday and Thursday trying very hard to complete it before Friday.  I've been doing this in hard print for almost 17 years and for the past 6-7 years in an email format.  It is my major contact effort to reach those interested in shore real estate ... buying, selling, or renting.

So Fridays can be a bit busy for me as I complete my morning tasks here in the office.  Generally, I read my papers before arriving (when possible), often Friday evening (depending what we are going to do), and Saturdays (at open houses when the arrivals are slow).  I also have my Time magazine arrive on Saturday afternoon so that serves as my final reading reference for the weekend.  I may be the only reader who underlines his entire magazine ... a carryover from my teaching days.

Just a short reflection on my Friday mornings in the real estate office.                        Dap

Surely you must read the Gazette, Dustin! You forgot to mention it and it's the best of all the papers!
