If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.Since I've been involved in 818 property renovations in seven states in 33 years, I always like inspecting the renovations of others to see what they have done -- or didn't do -- for the renovation.

I was recently at a house-warming party for some past Clients of mine who had re-located here from Indiana.

(About 25% of my clients ask me to come to their house-warming parties, but I usually only make them if they are on the weekend.)

I had inspected their renovated 1974 home and found only a few minor problems.

As I was eating and drinking, and walking in and out, I noticed that the screen door had been badly damaged:

Pet door

I don't miss reporting on screen windows and doors -- why will be another blog post sometime -- so I asked about the screen door since the damage looked to be intentional, almost as if someone had cut out an almost-square section of the screen.

Turns out that this was a "custom doggy door" for their "mouse terrier." Since the "mouse terrier" is a "yapper and a snapper," they had put it in a "yuppy puppy home" for the evening.

Note: The terms in quotation marks in the paragraph immediately above are the owners' terms, not mine. Maybe it's Midwestern Indiana lingo, but I did think it was cute, and it did stick with me.

Hey, Sandra.

I can name a few other critters that would welcome a nice custom-made doorway to a warm home.

Hey RR, it looks like the screen on the sliding door here.  Izzy decided he would renovate.

Hey, Jack.

Isn't that too small for Izzy the Monster Dog?

Russel - They yapper snapper can get in and out handily ... and so can the pesky insects.  Best to get a real doggy door instead of improvising ... as you know.  What we'll do for our pets!

Hey, Jim.

Don't tell the ladies this, but spiders and snakes can also get in through that custom doggy door.

Hey, Jennifer.

I say just keep that little yapping, snapping, yuppy puppy inside.
