Unlike some of you I am not an organizational master…
I can get organized, but I just don’t stay that way. Hence it’s important for me to have an arsenal of tools which help to alleviate some of my shortcomings.
Sometimes I over compensate… but that goes back to the impulse control thing Keeping records is not one of my specialties. So I’m sharing a couple of the things that I do to make my life a little more stress free.
- All faxes go into the e-mail so that I can retrieve them at anytime, they are automatically stored by phone number and date. Always there when I need them every once in a while I archive the old ones (still have Lookout running so I can find them anytime) to keep the e-mail nimble.
- All voice mail goes into my e-mail, see the reasons above. The Voice Mail also has caller ID, so I can search by name, phone number or date. If I’m feeling really motivated, I can make copies to keep in the client file. In fact would do that if expecting trouble.
- Make sure that your cell phone company sends you an itemized bill, listing every call
- Every once in a while, I will go to Kimweb (the Supra Site) and download the showing activity recorded on my supra card. (they only hold 90 days worth)
- I keep all of my non-spam e-mail…theoretically forever, but I had a period of time where I was using another program and couldn’t get all of the e-mail out.
I was able to use these materials a couple of years ago to prove procuring cause and get paid.
I came to the conclusion early on that I am very good at some things and struggle with others, so my focus is to relieve myself of those things which I am not so good at.
Technology has been a real boon to me.
