5 Comments on Hey Steph, Why Did You Need HVAC Tape?
Steph--Nice explanation...We use a similar type of tape called aluminum foil tape to seal all the duct work to prevent heat loss in the winter as well as cooling air loss in the summer. I had to go buy a roll because the person that cleaned the ducts cut a hole in the vent to clean debris and forgot to tape over it. That stuff is not cheap...I only needed a one inch square but had to buy the roll...But losing heat/cool air is much more expensive than a roll of aluminum foil tape.
Hey Teri, Yeah - It's the same stuff. I paid $20 for that roll of tape but it was worth it. I do feel a difference in the amount of air circulating. Can't say that the house is cooling off any quicker, but it does feel like more air is coming out.
I couldn't believe how much air was leaking. Didn't look like much in the video, but it was sure there. It's quieter too.
My daughter just put on a jacket by the way and told me it was freezing in here. That's a good sign!
There is a HUGE difference in the effectiveness of HVAC tape and Duct tape. HVAC tape may cost more, but will deliver significantly better results for the jobs for which it is intended. Thanks for the great video, Stephanie!
