Hooves for Hope is an equine-assisted program designed to help children with autism. It is the brainchild of Sonny Garguilo, who experienced a tragedy in his own life with the death of a sister, and so he decided to dedicate his life to making a difference in the lives of parents and children struggling with the challenges of autism.

Participation in the program gives children the opportunity to experience an organized and predictable environment, as well as allowing them to benefit from what Sonny believes is the magical relationship between humans and horses. The horses are trained to be gentle, safe, and quiet, and the programs are designed to provide an opportunity for the children to gain social skills geared toward improving their quality of life.

The Stables at Sand Point Preserve, where the programs are located, is a beautiful facility on 200 acres of spectacular grounds. Parents and siblings are free to explore the grounds while students are in the program.

A Hooves for Hope horse show is scheduled for Harborfest, June 7, so take the opportunity to see the show that has been wowing crowds throughout the country.

Visit the Hooves for Hope website for more information or to make a donation.
