If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and leave a comment. The California State Attorney General's office filed suit in San Diego Superior Court against two companies that were offering to help homeowners reduce their property taxes. They were billing almost $200 for services "that were almost never performend and are available free of charge from local tax assessors."

If you believe that your home is curently overvalued, meaning that you are paying more taxes than you should, you can apply to have your home revalued and property taxes adjusted.

To get the application, go to sdarcc.com and look for the property tax relief link or call 858-505-6262 for information. Completed applications need to be sent to the Assessor's Office, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 103, San Diego Ca 92101, and must be received by the Office by May 30, 2009.

You should provide documentation in the form of recent comparable sales or listings, so if you need help with that, please feel free to contact me. I can do that for you free of charge.

Thanks for posting this info, Jim. I get junk mail from these sorts of scams all the time now -- it looks very official, like something that might really be from the tax assessor.

So many scams, and the worse the economy is, the more scams there seem to be and the more people who acctually fall for them.
