The Beartooth Nature Center is a wildlife refuge for animals that are orphaned, injured (in the wild or through human contact) or imprinted (not able to live in the wild as a result of getting used to humans).  If you are visiting Red Lodge, Montana, this is one of the places you should see.  The center is host to about 70 animals and what is nice is that you get to see them at close range and learn more about them through interpretative displays and by observing them.   For more info about the Beartooth Nature Center visit http://www.beartoothnaturecenter.org/Site/Welcome.html

The following are some of the best photos I took of my recent visit on May 3, 2009.

Robert,

Thank you for stopping by and for the nice comments.   One of the benefits of the Center is that you get the chance to view these animals up close and as you look at them, most of them are intrigued by your presence and they look back at you.

Gerry, you got some great shots! I especially like the one of the cat licking his nose.

Morning Gerry, You've got some might pretty purple liatris popping up there! I worked as floral designer for many years and they were one of my favorites to work with.

Morning Cynthia,

Thank you for identifying the purple flowers in my last photo.  They sure are pretty.  Besides animals, there are beautiful flowers to observe near the entrance of the Nature Center.

You are welcome.  You made a great point.  These animals all got a second chance at life and it sure feels good to see them happy in their new homes.  Thansk for visiting this post.

Hi Gerry, It sounds like the refuge is necessary -- otherwise these animals would most likely be goners!  Your photos of these gorgeous animals are terrific. I can't help it - I think their  eyes are saying "did you bring the bail money?"  LOl!
