Although one lane was closed between 12:30 and 1:30 due to a breakdown, The Cape Cod Times reports that the Sagamore Flyover is providing visitors to Cape Cod with decreased travel times.  A good sign, especially with the price of gas!  Not only that, but it's on time and under budget!

The "flyover" involved the elimination of the Sagamore Rotary which was designed for 1930's traffic of 40,000 to 50,000 cars per day rather than the up to 90,000 it was handling.  It allows vehicles direct access to the Sagamore Bridge for travel further down Cape and redirects local traffic underneath.

Although navigating the construction of the flyover was somewhat confusing to us locals, it appears as though, at least for now, that it was well worth it.

It's a Beautiful Day on Cape Cod!  Come See Us!

Fantastic, one of the area planners is using their noggin.  Traffic is a nightmare in most cities and I have to hand it to the planners in Columbus Ga  what seemed like a huge waste of money a few years back has proven to be a useful and necessary step to relieve congestion.  Local govt. is slow but it is great when it finally works.   Have a great Memorial Day weekend Cathy.

Thank you, Patricia, Klaus (do I know you?), Peter and Michael, for your comments! Especially for my virgin post on AR.  A very pleasant welcome.

Just an update on the flyover....I had to traverse it four times today!  Generally, one of my worst nightmares on Memorial Day Weekend, June, July, August, Labor Day, Memorial Day.....you get my drift.

it was amazing!  I literally breezed over the Sagamore Bridge!  Back and Forth! My nightmare has turned into a dream.  How lovely is THAT!

Do you have toll roads up there?  Nearest one around here is in Gloria's neighborhood.  Hope you've had a great weekend.  I did!

Thank, Colleen!

Klaus, the only toll road I'm aware of in MA is the Mass Pike.  Neither of our Cape Cod Bridges charge for passage.  Gloria's probably pocketing all the proceeds to pay for her stolen signs!
