I haven't had the Nikon D90 very long. In fact, I've only had it about three weeks. I have a feeling that I will never learn to use all of it's features. Part of the reason for that, is that it's a great camera that takes wonderful pictures right out of the box. I've been reading the book and experimenting some with it... but it's a great point and shoot camera also.
I have had it long enough to know that I love this camera!
I bought this camera after asking questions several times here on Active Rain about it, asking for input on what camera to buy and about the Nikon D90 in particular. I spent hours on the web looking at reviews of cameras and then after settling on which one camera to buy, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which package to buy.

I even made one dumb attempted purchase. I first ordered from the cheapest source and when they couldn't sell me overpriced batteries and accessories at their advertised price, they cancelled my order for the camera body and two lenses.
The things that I love best about this camera:
- Really sharp clear photos. When it's on Auto Focus, if the camera can't focus, it will not let me take a picture!
- Fast mode setting... once I focus with the button half way down, it will take up to 4.5 pictures per second... I just tried this one yesterday... it was fun!
- Face recognition system focuses on the face and brings it out more in the photo than the landscape around the person.
- Ease of picutre storage, just carry some extra sd cards in my pocket and off I go.
- It's really automatic - I can turn the flash off and set it on autofocus to shoot photos in semidark - and the camera slows the shutter speed down to get the photo that I want. How Cool is that???
- The video feature produces great videos, much better than my "old" camera and it does it in poorer light than than my old one. The videos look better and are lit better.
A couple of photos taken yesterday:
This was a tiny little spider crawling around in the sun on our boat dock:

The water levels are back to normal on Lake Raymond Gary. This dog appears to be walking on water as he walks across the spillway.
