Directory Submission Gets You Tons Of Quality - 1 Way Links

As the search engines are evolving each and every day, it's getting harder and harder to get top search engine rankings. The search engines now, highly favor, websites that have a large number of quality, one way links pointing to them. Because of this, it's absolutely critical that we consistently try to get other websites to link to us, WITHOUT us linking back to them.

Yes, reciprocal linking is becoming less and less valuable. Submitting your website to website directories is an excellent way to get, quality, 1 way links pointing to your websites. You see, many of the website directories online have a high amount of page rank and have been online for several years. These are 2 of the most important criteria for determining what a good link is, vs what a bad link is.

These two criteria are: 1. The age of the website linking to you 2. The Page Rank of the website linking to you With that said, many of these directories have both a high Page Rank AND are old websites, giving them more authority and power in the search engines. Not only that, but there are literally thousands of website directories on the internet that are absolutely free for you to submit your website to! While it does take time to find these directories and then manually fill out all of the required criteria to submit your website, it is an excellent way to help increase your search engine rankings.

There are some good website directory submission software products on the market. The best of which is a product called Directory Submitter created by Brad Callen. Esentially you simply enter your website details into the software program 1 time, and then click on any of the 1600+ website directories in the software and it wil automatically fill in all of the submission criteria for you. Click the submit button and then your site has been instantly added to the website directory. So, not only does it save you time in finding all of these directories, BUT it saves you an incredible amount of time filling out each and every website's submission criteria.

But, please keep this to yourself, as I'd like to keep this our secret weapon :-) Enjoy!

Having your website in a bunch of directories that have no PR is not going to help you and could actually end up hurting you. I would challenge you to give me a couple of Real Estate directories that actually have page rank on the page you get listed on. There are not many!

Hi Bill, thanks for your comment.

You are correct in your comment.

But, I'm NOT suggesting spamming directories.

I'm also NOT suggesting JUST real estate directories!

With good software, one can track down directories (business, social, etc.), check their PR and content, and than automate your submission to them.

A good example would be the DMOZ directory. This directory is a long established PR8 directory where I believe EVERY Realtor should be listed.

DMOZ used to be a good directory....it is now a JOKE! It is run by a bunch of editors that must be on an endless vacation. I have tried at least 3 times to get in and never have been able. Do any kind of search on DMOZ online and you will see thousands of people complaining about not being able to get in. BTW the place you would get placed is not PR8. The landing pages for Realtors have no page rank anymore in DMOZ.

In fact most directories business, social or otherwise do not place you on a page that actually has page rank. You are buried deep within the site and no PR is passed. Being in most directories does not carry the same cache that it used to.

Hi Bill,

Yes, DMOZ is a pain, but, we have been able to get all the sites we submit to them, listed. Now, we have had to go back in 90 days and re-submit a number of times, but what can you expect for free?

As to being listed on a page w/PR, it really does not matter (at least for us) as the site's PR shows that it is indexed by Google and has a good number of incomming links. The PR juice in nice, but, the fact of a good one way link is what we are going hoping for.

We are webmasters for appx 3 dozen real estate websites and I guess we could go back and forth on what works and what does not work. But, the real bottom line is lasting results. That is why on our most popular SEO ranking program, we are one of just a few firms that guarantee page 1,2 or 3 placement for our client's selected keywords!

As far as the software to automate submissions, we know the value of most links is not what it was, but, it still is part of the ranking puzzle and from our current and past results we do not intend to drop it anytime soon.

Now, I would suggest you re-submit your site to DMOZ.

Best Wishes

Hi Julie:

Thank for the comment.  I just downloaded the softwate and installed on two different computers, both with different virus software....no problems. Plius, this is the first I hear from the many who are using this that there was any spyware.

As the software does auto update new directories, your software soulds like it is making a error. I would try it with another computer or spyware software.
