I'm supposed to be feeding my kids, but...

OK folks, seems every time I get going on here I ignore one of my other very important jobs. How do you single working moms do this? Are you selling real estate while they nap? Are you toting them along in the car seat while showing homes?

I should be doing so many other things, like feeding my kids lunch (my two year old is STAAAAAARRRRVVVIINNNGGGG), thinking about dinner, going to vote, showering, doing laundry, calling a client, follow up on an email, writing a business plan, calling my cousin, checking with my artist for my children's book, and going to enjoy some of the rare sunshine!

I recently cut back on some of my work, but it seems I'm always missing something. Anyone got any advice?

That was exactly the dilemma I faced when interning the industry so instead of becoming a Realtor I became a Loan Officer. Same great earning potential but normal 9-5 hours and good insurance for the kid-os.

Christine - I have wondered about this myself when I've met single moms who are trying to make a go of it in real estate.  It has to be tough to find a balance.

Probably helps if Mom is around, or if child care can be "traded" with another single mom, but still tough

Melissa - Thankfully, I was able to leave my 9 to 5 job when my first daughter was born. My husband and I spent years paying off debt we incurred learning to live on one income, but I cannot imagine the stress related to going it alone.

Jason - Thanks for your comment. Children demand so much time. We have chosen to homeschool as well, which might be making things a bit more hectic for me, but I can't imagine things any other way.

Penny - I love it when I hear a friend of mine say, "My mom took the kids so we could go out." I don't have that, and with #4 on the way, I don't expect to be able to afford a babysitter in the near future!

It's very hard to do it all -- just do the best you can and take care of your family -- all the best.
