Has Twitter really turned Google into a tortoise?!?!?!

By

Larry Page, Google co-founder, admits Twitter is winning the race for real-time information.

How will this impact real estate?  I'm not sure.  However, it will be an interesting race to watch!

The growth of Twitter has been very impressive.

Twitter has come from nowhere to become the third most visited social networking site in the US in just three years by allowing its users to broadcast their thoughts, actions and news instantly.

Twitter had a year to year increase of 1352% in unique visitors.  I don't know if it is a Google vs. Twitter race.  I see it more as a Facebook vs. Twitter race.  But - social media is playing an ever increasing role as a business marketing tool.

Hi Ryan,

That's a stunning growth rate!!!  Thank you for your perspective on Facebook.  I haven't found time for that one yet.

Hi Bruce.  Yes Twitter has grown...

I have still not done much interacting with it.  I try.

Perhaps more time.

Thanks for writing,

Ken

Oh my gosh, I am always trying to catch up with technology.  Seems as if no sooner do I get something figured out, it's outdated and it's on to something newer and better.  It's hard for old dogs to keep learning new tricks. Woof!

Hi Ken,  Good to "see" you again!

Hi Janna,  This old dog is just happy to still be learning.  :)  Actually, now that I think about it, you shouldn't put yourself down.  You're actually way ahead of most agents.  You're on ActiveRain and they're not!!!

Good points, I have become a twitterer...if that's the correct word. I think for an instant "quick" answer maybe but for in depth info, it will still be Google! good to see you back and this should be featured!

Hey Russell,

Nice to see you again, here and on Twitter.  I agree with you.  Google will be a strong force for years to come.  Instant information might be more exciting, but it's not always accurate information.

Bruce - I don't have the exact statistics but Facebook has something like 56 million unique visitors - which would make it something like the 7 largest country on the planet... pretty amazing when you look at the numbers.

Bruce,

I still haven't put together how to use twitter for business but it sounds like I had better figure it out.

Never thought about that, but the information certianly is there in real time and is searchable. Google has been at the front of the pack for a very long time and is a very smart company, I'm guessing they aren't going to give up 1st place without a fight!
