Check Your Intentions At The Door

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Looking At HeartHave you been to the dentist lately? OK, times can be tough in the real estate world but dental hygiene and fillings are still important. Ever notice that tool with the mirror on it? Helps see way back in your mouth particularly the uppers. Sometimes we have to work a little harder to understand others and even ourselves in business and in life.

Check Your Intentions At The Door.

With other people we can easily misperceive or misinterpret them. This communication thing is not easy. Give people the benefit of the doubt for awhile. To handle yourself, use your head, to handle others, use your heart.

What about your own intentions? Only you know what motivates you to do what you do. Are you a manipulator or a kind one? Are you straight with people or two faced?

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. That mainly has to do with inaction. But good intentions and "being good" is where it all starts. With ourselves we are at our worst when we fool ourselves and what we say we are in our mind and how we act are not aligned. Do that self exam of your intentions throughout the day. Do you have ulterior motives to get your way? Is there a little too much selfishness or superiority attitude over another that you have? We all are not perfect and have much room to improve. It comes down to an examination of your heart. Work to have a better heart. The past is the past. Turn over a new leaf. It is a new day. You're in great shape now. Why? You just came from the heart dentist and are as good as new again. Oh BTW, did you want cinnamon or bubble gum polish?

A good heart, good direction, and indeed checking your intentions at the door. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Oh how true this is.

Hi Gary!
It is hard sometimes to remember who we are working for...not ourselves, but our clients.  I have a particularly difficult divorcing couple I am working for right now.  It has made me very aware of what I say and how I say it.  My intention is to stay neutral in a situation begging for biases.  Wish me luck!

Heart dentist. Hmm that's a new concept. I do remind myself frequently that I have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason.

For me, I need to check in with my Higher Power, who I choose to call God. If it is God's will, I usually can tell inside because it feels right. I pray that I might be helpful to others.

Good morning Gary, great post! My take on the phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" has more to do with follow through. I think that many times we say we will do something for someone, then don't follow through, causing issues all the way around. If it is business related and we don't follow through, would we be surprised when our clients move on? Personal relationships really suffer too.

If you don't really want to do it, keep the lips zipped!

I like the analogy.  Basically treat people better than you would want to be treated and you will be fine.   The last time I was at the Dentist, I left my teeth and picked them up 2 hours later.

I am with Richard...I like Baking soda.  Works good for heart burn!

Self introspection is so important.  I usually think that if you do question yourself, you are probably on the right track.  It's when you don't question, or look for ways to improve, that you should be concerned!

Hope all is great in Tx!

Interesting post.  I'ts like here at Active Rain... after awhile, it's pretty hard to be deceitful, as people will get who you are pretty quickly.  With just a few posts, your intentions are pretty clear.  Love it.

Gary, I had a MEAN dentist growing up which has made for traumatice dental experiences.  As an adult I have a wonderful dentist which makes all the difference in the world. I guess he is a heart dentist with a wonderful laugh.

Gary - Just one problem - "Do you have ulterior motives to get your way? Is there a little too much selfishness or superiority attitude over another that you have?" ....problem is - many people with good intentions just can't come to grips with how they are paving that road to helll for others.
