Random Thoughts on my numerous blog postings ... Ocean City,  New Jersey

A lot of people tell me ... "how do you get so much time to write a blog posting?"  I say:  "when I take a few minutes to write one (and I tend to think and write and type at the same time), it is a relaxing experience for me.  It's a way to think about sharing some ideas, thoughts, frustrations, etc. ... a time-out from the world of real estate until the next phone call comes in.

When I was a high school principal (for 17 years no less), I recall walking into the auditorium sitting down in a seat somewhere in the dark for five minutes and reflecting on what was happening in my life.  I also used to get home, and my wife would ask me what I had done all day.  I often found myself saying:  "I can't remember."  After analyzing that a few times and reading a couple of booklets on the principalship; I realized that in the course of an hour in the beginning of the day I would have about 30 to 50 interactions with students, teachers, other staff, support staff, other administrators, and parents including phone calls, etc. ... clearly most of these interactions were of a 1 to 3 minutes duration (some much less than that).

That is the same thing in the real estate world for an agent who works a full schedule five or six days a week.  I tend to walk around with a long white tablet where I record everything that is happening ... names, phone numbers, sale calls, rental calls, etc, etc, ... I also use my "Palm Phone" for contacts, calendar, to do, etc.  My world is one interruption after another ... but many of these are very important and good and profitable.

But I find writing a blog posting to be a relaxing fit for me ... ops, there goes the cell phone again.  Back to the other world!!!                                                   Dap

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

What a good post!    Writing a blog is a relaxing "pause" moment, between interruptions.    Teaching was good training for an interruptive/multitasking lifestyle, though, don't you think???

Li,  Thank you for the follow-up email.  I'm pleased that you also agree with me on the "relaxing aspect" of the writing process.  Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.  Thanks again.               Dap
