Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a very special day. Living is the United States is very special. Many times, while keeping up with the news and current events, one can hear of complaints about our great country. Sometimes the complaints are well founded, sometimes they are not. But we are lucky to live in a country where you are allowed to complain at all.

I have always said that if it were not for this country, the world would be such a different place. If it weren't for this country, all of the people in the world be more like cattle, instead of free thinking humans. Imagine if the whole world was like Iran, or Afghanistan, or what would France be like today had it not been for the United States?

I could keep going, but you get my idea.

I would like to express my gratitude and offer my prayers to the too many people that made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect our way of life. I would like to offer the same to the loved one's they left behind.

The world today is such a dangerous place. Unfortunately, we are still losing soldiers to protect our society. I wish there was a simple answer to put an end to this problem. I wish that leaving these troubled areas to fend for themselves was an answer, but I fear it is not.

Well, I don't want this post to turn into a political debate. I'm sure there is something we can all agree on, regardless of your position on the political divide.

G-D bless the souls and the loved one's of our martyrs. G-D bless America

Hi Steve..Only a Moran would turn Memorial Day into a political protest,so thank you for the thoughts as our prayers go to those that are gone.

I noticed that you had spelled GOD G-D and was wondering about the significance.

Hey Bob,

Why do I spell G-d as such?

OK, In the Jewish faith, we believe that the name of G-D is too holy to speak or to even write. In all of our prayers, when we acronyms to speak his name. I am not extremely religious, but I am spiritual and have faith in G-D. There are certain things that are embedded in my soul.

This is one of them.

I know of other folks, Christians, that use the same spelling, so I don't think it is only a Jewish thing.

That makes perfect sense as my sister is a Jehovah's Witness, however was unaware of the Jewish faith practicing the same aspect.

Now knowing that ,I am suprised they use the full spelling printed on our currency.

Well this is not a religous forum so I will clam up before I draw the wrong twist to your great Memorial Day thread.
