If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.People often ask me why I get so inspired by nature, and while I can't really give them a cool answer that explains my psychological makeup, I think it might have something to do with the great diversity of Mother and Father Nature's fauna and flora.

Now some would argue that mankind itself offers great diversity, and I would not dispute them. The difference, though, is that mankind likes to talk back to me whereas the fauna and flora just like to be admired -- LOL.

At a recent trip to Quail Botanical Gardens here in Encinitas, I took 853 pictures. Following is a 8-picture composition exhibiting the great diversity of Mother and Father Nature's trees, focusing specifically on tree trunks and roots.

Russel, those shots are amazing! I love them, thank you so much. That 3 hour trip you made was well worth it, we will all be benefiting from your trip there!

By the way, I just figured out last nite that you had another blog! (as in this one)

Great shots. I am a nature person myself. Have to get out of the city to recharge the batteries.

Hey, Russel. Great shots. I have to say that 853 is a lot of pictures. Where do you store them all. Jim

Hey, Andrea.

My wise old grandmother taught me not to put all my eggs in one basket. I think we were at an Easter egg hunt at the time, so I didn't really understand what she meant since I only had one Easter basket.

Hey, Harry.

Some would say that I live in the East County boondocks here, so sometimes I have to go into the city to recharge the batteries -- Zoo, Balboa Park, etc. -- LOL

Hey, John.

They do, but give me a camera and I can find "interesting" in lots of otherwise mundane things.

Hey, Caren.

Unfortunately, the new camera is still traveling cross country. Meanwhile, though, I have 853 pictures from Quail Botanical Gardens to share.

Hey, Jim.

All of my pictures were taken at one megapixel resolution, and then I resized them to 640x480 at the office, which made the file size anywhere from 15-50 KB. All of the 853 pictures are that size, so they don't even take up a megabyte.

However, last week I started taking 6.2 megapixel pictures to see what the file size was, as well as the detail in the picture. I haven't posted any of those yet. Each 6.2 MP picture takes up anywhere from 867 KB to 2.6 MB, substantially larger. They will all be resized to 15-50 KB eventually.

Once I get the new camera, I plan on selling pictures over at dreamstime.com, which is where I've been getting some pictures over the last five years.

Russel, you sure are giving that new camera a workout.  Zoey looks rather bored.......did you make her look at all 853 pictures?

I can see how she has taught you to relax and take it easy.

Hey, Ann.

These are still old camera pictures. The new camera should arrive around June 10 or so.

Zoey the Cool Cat is pretty happy (bored) as long as she has food, a place to sleep, and a pooper scooper. I haven't yet been able to determine which of those three is more important to her -- LOL.

Russel,

Love the trunks and roots. Can't wait to see what you do with your new camera equipment. Thanks for sharing...and thanks for the flowers (for the divas).
