My previous posts about Eagles Pointe in Prince William County looked at the commuting convenience of the community, current value in the community and the community amenities.
Eagles Pointe is also the site of K Hovnanian "demonstration" home to showcase materials that are not only environmentally friendly but also will provide up to 40% energy savings over a conventional home.

The home features Energy Star appliances, spray foam insulation and high efficiency heating and cooling systems. One interesting addition is a tankless water heater and a water distribution system where each faucet in the home is connected to separately to the water heater.
K. Hovnanian estimates these improvements could save homeowners close to $1700 a year in utility bills. With more homeowners thinking about energy savings and opportunities to "go green" this LEED certified home provides the opportunity to take an up close look at new home building features. A portion of the basement in the home on of the property is a demonstration center where visitors can learn more about the solar energy and see how walls were framed and the closed cell insulation was installed.
Even though driving through the neighborhood you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the demonstration house and the others on the street but when you start to add up the annual cost savings you begin to appreciate the difference.
Tours of the home are by appointment only and can be arranged through K Hovnanian by calling 703-580-9942.
Indeed. KHovanian is one of my favorite builders. I got a demonstration of their environmentally advantageous homes in Frederick County, MD. I'm closing on one next Tuesday. Wonderful effective utility cost savings features for home owners are now standard features for this builder at no additional charges.
