Geese at Ninto Brown

You all are probably expect some totally cool and witty post.  The poor Salemites are cringing as I'm talking about duck butts and Minto Brown Island in the same thought...so here's the deal.

We had a fabulous weekend last weekend so we went to Minto-Brown Island park here in Salem Oregon. Minto has a pond, bike/walking paths, off-leash dog area, and a play structure for kids. It's a great HUGE park area here in Salem Oregon.

So when we stopped at the pond to feed the ducks and geese...who were well trained on getting food from humans, by the way, I couldn't help but whip out my camera to take a few shots.  My daughter, who is a ham for my camera, took one look at this shot and exclaimed "Hey, it's a duck butt."

So, if you are considering relocating to Salem Oregon and want to figure out what to do on a nice weekend, consider heading over to Minto-Brown and riding a bike, walking your dog, and catching the occasional view of a "duck butt."

Melina, That a wonderful duck butt picture.  I love the way the water is splashing up as the duck is ducking.

Melina, What an awesome photo that is of the duck, I am really impressed. I have taken our little boys on several occasions to feed the ducks, it is always a lot of fun. :)

Mark there is something great about kids and ducks.  These ones are trained. We walked over and they flocked to us...

Jon-sometimes I think that is what photography is...a little bit of good timing.

Very cool photos Melina.  I've got a few photos on flickr, but I didn't know about the slide show tool.

Erik I just stumbled on the slideshow thingy the other day.  You can't use it for your listings because it would violate the terms of use, but I use it for my nature photos and such.  The quality of the slide show is really good.

Melina:  Obviously, somebody yelled at this duck to "DUCK"... which it did.  What a great photo... very different from many others I have seen.  Thanks so much for sharing...

Great shot Melina!!  If I was considering relocating to your area, you would be the first person I called.  And everyone else relocating would be wise to do to the same!

Michael-Now THAT would have been a great title.

OMG- what a great capture of water in motion an duck in a compromising position! Love it , love it !

Weve got two adults that have a young one ... they sit on the bank watching him wander off in the water paddling around -- but not out of sight.

It really is something to see how nurturing they are with their young.
