What's the Best way to get Comments on your blogs?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with 1st Choice Mortgage Resolutions

So I've been actively blogging for a week or so. A new concept for me. I'm trying to keep the information informative, easy to read, and helpful.

For some reason, I don't get very many comments. What's the deal? What am I missing?

My dilemma is that I seem to be getting good view counts, and with them improving every day, I assumed that time is important. But comments are important too. I see my blog as a converstation with people who are looking for the information I provide. Why is no one commenting?

I would be grateful for any tips anyone might be able to share... If you prefer to look at my blog first you can view it here:

Loan Modifications, Short Sales, & Foreclosure Workouts

Again, I would appreciate any help in this department. I feel I have knowledge to share, it doesn't help if its not helping anyone! :)

Sincerely,

Walter Getz

Walter,

I'm also a newbie and don't even pretend to have all the answers!  I have found, however, that many of the folks for whom I've left a comment pay me a return visit.  Not all and not every post, of course. So, I'd suggest leaving good comments on other people's posts. When you DO get comments on your posts, be certain to answer them. Will encourage people to return.

You also have not begun using any photos or graphics. These are something that often attract comments.

Groups - I don't know how to tell what groups you post to.  Join a couple and post regularly.  Newbies (which this post is in) has been a great one for me.

Stick with it and you'll start attracting a fan club! Folks here are great.

Walter,

Commenting on other blogs does seem to work! Those are the ones I see return often! Great advise Irene!  Wishing you the best Walter!

Irene - Thank you for your input.

I haven't posted any pictures for two main reasons:

1. I don't really have all that extra time to hunt down just the right graphic, and

2. I'm concerned about copyright infringement/royalty issues.

I've figured better to be safe than sorry.

I do appreciate your insight!

There is just SO much information out there about blogging, SEO, and other aspects of the blog world! Sometimes it gets a little overwhelming. Locating a good step by step would be really helpful!

Judy - I do try to comment on other blogs as well, but try to stick with what I know. Unfortunately, I'm not overly familiar with the Realty aspect of this network/group, I'm the finance guy, is what I know. In addition to what I know, there hasn't been a blog for Foreclosure issues that I've found just yet that really peaks my interest. Is it ok to comment to correct blogs that mislead their readers? I'm not here to make enemies...

Hang in there Walter.  You never know which of your postings will "strike a nerve" within the AR community.  You just have to keep plugging away.  And, although graphics and photos can make your posting look attractive, they will not necessarily lead to more comments.  It's really the written content that is most important.  Keep at it!

Walter, Welcome! I am a new blogger too. The first comments I received was with this great active rain group.  Like you I was asking for help.  The best advise that I have received is to keep on blogging and don't give up. If you want comments and feedback try asking questions.

Good Luck!

Walter I'm with Tom....hang in there. I'm fairly new myself and I just kept learning stuff day by day.  I also enjoy reading blogs and leaving interesting comments for them.  There are lots of great people on the rain and you're going to love the ride.  Really......just keep blogging.  And do take some time to find the right pics and maybe some links?    Also......there is a whole section of post on 'new to active rain'. I think that's a group.  You'll be busy with that forever.  And be sure to read Brad & Jerrey's posts (staff).

Enjoy the ride!

Walter,

Read my blog "At 200, my take on Active Rain". You might get some ideas there.

I have been with active rain for a few months but don't get on as much as I should due to our office being busy with clients, me going back to college to further my degree, becoming CIPS certified,  and community projects which Iam a part of.  Iam also new to bloging and have had very few comments on my blogs.  Somethings I have been trying are

1. Get on active rain as much as you can so people recognize you

2. Add comments to others peoples blogs, groups, etc

3. Find someone with similar interests that blog and you can always refer your blogs to the group. For example a love for traveling.

4.  Just keep blogging about what you find interesting, hobbies, things your did today that were interesting and productive, new things you learned, etc.

I don't think there is a right way and wrong way to blog or what to write about.  As long as you stay true to yourself and write whats on your mind then it should all follow through.  I find it easier that way and less stressful than figuring out the perfect blog topic in hopes of comments.   Just my opinion.

I think commenting on other people's blogs is a big part of it.  Choose at least a few people who have lots of followers.  Also, join a few really active groups like Club Chaos, etc.  Its sometimes difficult to break in but keep going.  Sometimes the blog that you least expect will generate interest.  Good luck.

The best way I have found to get comments is to blog about something that agents are passionate about, and is somewhat subjective. Then close the blog by asking something like: "what do you think about this?'

If you stick with the blogging, people will comment.  I've found you never really know what blog will strike a nerve with people......but if you continue, you're bound to hit one that strikes a lot of feedback.

Good Luck!!

While comments have some value, good blogs have more!  Write intersting things and post them in relevent groups and it will work out.  Remember, you blog to learn, grow, and get rich!

Walter - One thing that nobody has mentioned is, determine who are you writing for.  Make sure you are writing blog posts that are relevant to the audience you are trying to attract.  Perhaps that audience is not the audience that will make lots of comments, but keep in mind why you are blogging.  I would imagine it is to generate more business.  You may find that as you continue to write, you may not get any more comments, but you may be generating business.

If you want a lot of comments,  write a members only blog about something controversial that people will want to comment on.  I post a lot of localism posts as I mostly aim at consumers, so I don't receive a lot of comments on these

Keep blogging about what interests you the most.  People on AR will get to know you and some will follow your blogs.  Comments will come.
