There no better way to enjoy the gorgeous views of the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains, desert sunsets or the city lights at night than to take a trip on our world famous Palm Springs Tram. Construction of the Tramway was an huge engineering challenge and was soon labeled by some the "8th wonder of the world.'' The enginners used helicopters in erecting four of the five supporting towers. Over 20 years later, the Tramway was designated an historical civil engineering landmark. Ride to the snow-capped peak of Mt. San Jacinto which is 10,804 feet high and you will see why the Coachella Valley is one of the most beautiful spots in the country.

Looks great! My youngest son and I came through Palm Springs last weekend, on our way back from Joshua Tree, but we ran out of time to take the tram.

Wow Elaine, your post brings back some fun memories. My parents took us on the tram when we were kids, and I was lucky enough to take a couple of dates on the tram ride when I was in high school (Fontana High School).

Hi Elaine,

I haven't been on the tram in probably 20-25 years, but it is pretty awesome. Especially (depending on time of year) going from the desert heat to snow in a matter of a few minutes. Thanks for sharing.

I went up about a month ago for the Chamber mixer.  The food was actually really good.  It is a great way to get out of the heat.  I also like going during Christmas, as there is snow, and it feels like Christmas.
