We built a new function in the database. It gives us the ability to set up an auto responder and a matching opt in form for each open house.

The idea is pretty simple, instead of (or in addition to really) having the printed sheets, we have a laptop where people can sign up. When they do, they get emailed a form email with links to download the feature sheet, the floor plan and a list of other properties in the same range.

The other thing it does is offer to have you subscribe to our newsletter (a checkbox) so in addition to being green, we're building our database, not bad

Here is a video walk through of our first time with the new technology (we're also streaming the open using Ustream) while it was good and we got some sign up's, it's always good to see it in action as you can see all the things you can do to make it better, here is my feedback video

7 Comments on Open House Opt In Email Forms | Working through the kinks

Interesting post.  Are people doing it?  How valid is the data they are entering.  Open houses generate a lot of fictitious information in my area.

LOL Nice video!  How's the response at your open houses?  Do people want to fill out the form or do they get all crazy about having to share their info?  We use open house survey forms that we print...sometimes we have people that won't fill them out, but some will and just leave their email/phone number blank if they do not wish to be bothered.  Would love to hear more about how this is working for you.

Have a great holiday weekend!

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Riel -  I think that is a really cool idea.  I hope it works well for you.  I don't do many open houses but I think I'd use this idea if I did!

Kathleen, for security purposes, don't they have to provide ID to enter?

Hi Riel;

I do appreciate this post, how was the response for your open house, hope you did well. Good Luck!

The open went well, we were steady for the full 2 hours.

We did a live feed from the same computer, I'm including it below (unfortunately there was no sound on the computer, Mic issues, I'll fix that for next week's opens).

I'm guessing about this, but I think 25% filled it out without any hesitation.

We had no complaints about it and 1 positive "good idea" type comment.

I want to get it better positioned in the future, I'm pretty confident that it'll be a good source of opt in's for the newsletter.

This is a good idea but many people do not like to sign in at open houses.

Gita,

We don't force them to ... the paper versions are still there.

For those that do, it's a great lead gen, the environmentally concious people like it as it's "green" and those that don't want to simply take the paper version.

Like everything, it's just another tool to help you stand out and automate some of your followup.
