A page from the diary of an agent: Fire the babysitter and move on!
As an agent, I work at being a team player, which includes sharing with other team members what I know to help me do a good job. In turn, I listen to what others have to share in how they do business and I weigh out what can help me to enhance my business. Although some agents really do not like to share information, they just want you to give up all your information!
Since I am in my own business I want it and I work hard to get it. I know that I have to have drive, ambition and confidence in myself to move forward. I am not an agent that is big on turning down business or deciding that "I won't do that"! I am always researching what is changing in this business and I try to make myself available to the new changes.
I search and reach out for tools to add to my knowledge base and I reach for each opportunity that is out there on the internet, the social networking, through the meetings I attend -- I add courses to my list of educational/training that I need to take to learn more about the business. And I work at doing these things that I find out I need to be successful in my business.
During these most trying foreclosure crisis (REO/Bank Owned / Foreclosure/ Short Sale) days -- Real Estate is not necessarily a fun place to be right now. As we all know, the prices are down, down everywhere so it is not or should not be a surprise that even the top producers in real estate are feeling the crunch! To me, that is no reason for brokers to feel that they should not feel that crunch in anyway and then use their agents to squeeze more from them (in terms of money) in order to keep their households going and merely forget that the agents are suffering as well. Sale prices are down, which means so are commissions - why is it that alot of brokers are taking more % commission from the transaction, asking agents to pay high E&O Insurance when it does not cost them that much or one fee pays for the whole office? Why is this? This is not right... Hello!
I look to my broker show me support, to hold meetings and update me on the information that brokers get and from there... I work hard, continue to be a team player and I drive myself ----> aiming for success at all times. I figured on working hard at my business when I started it.
I am good at using my quiet voice when I am in whinning and crying mode! But if I find out that I am working for a broker that is merely babysitting me and doubting me, or who is constantly looking for ways to cut commissions, take from me and give to others, add on additional fees for me to pay, showing no support or acknowledge my hard work to promote the brokerage, or adding negative to my day -- and if all my broker had to do is babysit me -- Houston we would have a problem! I will fire the babysitter and move on.
<Boy, am I glad I am with a brokerage! I hate goodbyes!>
Methinks you need to move eh?
I am very blessed to have a very supportive and accessible broker who conducts hours of training every month so that the agents are "Building Careers Worth Having, Businesses Worth Owning and Lives Worth Living"! That is the KW mentality!
Best Wishes!
